Wet n Dry Boardsports is a family run business with over 25 years of experience in the boardsports industry. They strive to deliver great customer service and have extensive knowledge of the products they offer. They stock a large range of boardsports equipment covering windsurfing, foiling, snowboarding, wakeboarding and more.

They run a retail store in Essex, offering one-to-one personal expert attention to all customers coming to their store.

Challenge

Dated and non-user-friendly eCommerce store

Wet n Dry Boardsports had been stuck on the Magento 1 platform for a long time. They had been let down by past Magento agencies who were not experienced or competent enough to deliver a stable platform. It was time to move over to Magento 2, but they did not have anyone they could trust to complete the move.

Their online presence was weak and did not deliver the same customer experience as they did through their retail store.

The website was dated and sluggish. The shopping experience, especially on the mobile, was so poor that customers were turning away. The website felt like an amateur setup and customers did not feel confident when checking out, which meant the business was losing out on potential sales.

One of the major benefits of shopping with Wet n Dry Boardsports was that they offered 0% finance to customers. However, you had to register over the phone to apply, which is a very old fashioned and inconvenient step.

Solution

Completely revamped their eCommerce store on Magento 2

When we came in, we redesigned and rebuilt their entire Magento store on the new Magento 2 platform. Completely revamping the user experience, their online store became a delight to use. Customers were able to find products much more rapidly with the advanced layered navigation and search features. We implemented customer reviews from Yotpo and Google Reviews, and videos which helped encourage customers to buy products they may not have been certain about. They also felt safe when purchasing goods through the website.

It was no longer necessary for customers to call in to place an order when they wanted to pay with a financial plan. Instead, we implemented Klarna, allowing customers to pay later for goods. This helped tremendously by increasing both conversions and order value.

Mobile optimisation had always been at the forefront when it came to redesigning the Wet n Dry Boardsports online store. We simplified the checkout page, making it a breeze to checkout on mobile devices.

We did not neglect the importance of SEO, and made major SEO optimisations throughout the website such as removing inconsistent URLs and setting up friendly ones. We also included Google sitemaps, robots.txt, a product catalogue for Google Shopping, and more.

To ensure stability and security, we migrated their hosting to an optimised Magento hosting platform with our hosting partner UKFast.

No longer is Wet n Dry Boardsports embarrassed to send customers to their online store, or receiving complaints about how difficult it is to use and navigate the website. The new Magento 2 store is now a major revenue channel for the company.

Even during COVID-19, the brand saw a healthy stream of customers placing orders when their retail store was shut.

Wet n Dry Boardsports pride themselves on offering outstanding customer service in-store, but now with the improved shopping experience on their Magento 2 site, customers are receiving the same quality of service and knowledge directly online.

With the SEO optimisation we have implemented, there has been a steady increase in traffic and customer activity, and conversions from mobile customers have improved.
